Golden plans!

So today is the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games and in my honest opinion it’s been amazing. From start to finish its been a fantastic spectacle and I’ve really enjoyed watching it. It’s inspired me to push and work hard. As the harder you work, the more you can achieve. The tally of welsh athletes with medals, and some being gold, is an amazing achievement and im looking to use that as inspiration to push forward.

With the closing of the Olympics the Paralympics is about to start and I can’t wait. A selection of athletes I have grown up with and it will be a pleasure to see them all get gold at London. I can’t wait! This is another thing that helps push me and inspire me to focus and work as hard as i can to the best of my ability. Working and being alongside the guys over the years, I’ve seen how hard it actually is to maintain your body and keep it in top shape for when the Olympics is on. Mentally an physically it is a major challenge to keep on the game. So I take my hat off to them, and wish them all the best! Good luck guys!!

Another One Bites The Dust!

When I decided to take on the role of becoming a designer. I was heavily attracted to being able to express my ideas and thoughts. Once I was given the brief, I then had scope to create anything I wanted. Plus having the ability to create whatever flowed from my mind. These days I find it very hard to comprehend how people are relying heavily on other peoples work, in order to create a successful design.

Now I’m all for using something as inspiration in order to kick in those brain juice’s into action. But to actually “bite” another designers work… is beyond me. I find it hard to understand why someone would do that, and if you need to do that, then surely you are in the wrong industry. Designing is all about creation, bringing something fresh to the table. It saddens me to think that some people need to ‘bite’ in order to maintain a design style, they are unable to achieve on their own.

I also can’t understand why professional designers use templates. Why on earth would a ‘professional’ designer underestimate themselves, to warrant the need to use a template. Unless they lack the skills to accomplish that design, and if that’s the case, then get the correct education or quit!. Templates are for people who are unable to create a design, but need something to look good. Professional designers should be able to do all the skills involved in the template, as its what the customers are paying for (or not paying if your a freebie designer).

To me, designing is a way of expression, you create a piece of art thats original, warming, stands out, hits the right buttons, and it can hold its own. It’s a shame other people don’t look at it that way!

Don’t Let Life Pass You By

Don't Let Life Pass You By

The last few months I’ve had a lot of stuff on my mind about what i want to do in life. Whether designing is really what i want to do until i retire, or what i actually want to do for the rest of my days on this earth. It’s been getting me into a pickle and throwing my emotions all over the place to be honest. Time is ticking on while I’ve been trying to plan my future and I’ve come to realise I’m concentrating so much on work that my life is not moving on as a whole. So i decided to draw a line on things and drew this message in a bid to end the dilemmas and get a move on what my destiny will be!. I also used one of my favourite fonts too, i hope you like it!.

The Alcoholic’s Laboratory

So a lot of the wine and alcohol that we have been making at my house has now started to come to fruitation (if that’s even a word). Basically it’s done brewing, and ready to get us all sloshed!

We made two Rosè wines. One black cherry, and one strawberry. They both came out fantastic with the cherry one seeming to have a lot more alcohol. No idea why.

I have a blackberry port bubbling up in a Demi John. I’ve had a taste sample to see if it’s progressing and it’s blooming fantastic. Very fruity, very alcoholic, very sweet, and very nice! So I will be bottling that into 1/2 bottles for consumption. Port is drank in moderation, and I’ve only made a small batch. So it will be used sparingly.

We also decided that our brewing name will be called ‘Silver Throne’. We thought using a family name has been done, and done, and done again! So we decided to go with something completely different. But it’s part of a story from our family’s legacy of wine making. Way before I was even born!

Ive decided I’m going to experiment with more fruit and create a crazy drink that’s silky smooth, refreshing, but alcoholic. I’m not sure what fruit yet but I’ll play around and come up with something. I’m going to name the drink something funny but haven’t a name yet, and it will hopefully be a ‘people’s friend’ at house party’s!! Hmm we’ll see.

Christmas

I’m not going to lie! I’m not the worlds best at organisation, but christmas hasn’t half krept up. I’m half way through my shopping and there’s about a week to go!! Argh!! With that in mind I’m going to hit Cardiff town tomorrow with @rhysryall and finish it all of. I’m quite looking forward to it to be honest!

Here’s a pic of my last shopping adventure. It’s a shop window display at macauther glen in Bridgend.
